*Your mom calls you on the phone*
You don’t want to answer, because you know she would ask you to do something for her.
*You see someone holding so much books*
You look away, so you don’t feel guilty of not helping that person.
-some typical day to day encounters, right?
_______
Do you not see how Allah Azza Wa Jall has placed you in
so many situations wherein you could have given out a helping hand yet
you refused?
Have you not realized how He wanted and wants to
reward you and raise your rank in Jannah every single time this
situations come in front of you? Do you not realize how Allah yearns you
to be with Him in Paradise?
Indeed, countless times do we
encounter such daily scenes yet we usually take for them granted. Why?
Is it because we don’t want to help or we are just shrugging off us
being Muslims?
Subhan’Allah in my travels, I have never seen any
other people more helpful and hospitable than Muslims. Alhamdulillah,
and I will always want to narrate my experiences about them each time.
They truly remind me of such stories of the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum.
They bring back the good old times. Alhamdulillah.
Let me tell you a story that once happened to Hassan, Hussain and
Abdullah Ibn Jafar Radiyallahu Anhum together with one Ansari man.
One
day, these four men set out from Makkah to Madinah. On their way, a
heavy downpour forced theme to take refuge in a Bedouin’s tent. When it
stopped raining and the sky cleared, the Bedouin slaughtered a goat for
his guests and entertained them well. They stayed with the Bedouin for
three days. When they decided to leave, Abdullah Ibn Jafar said to the
Bedouin: “When you come to Madinah, please meet us. We will be honored
to receive you.”
A few years later, the Bedouin suffered some
setbacks and his wife advised him, “Go to Madinah to see those young men
who stayed with us as guests. Maybe you will find a way out of our
hardship.” The Bedouin said, “I don’t even remember their names.”
Ask the people there about the son of Al Tayy’ar, the wife couseled.
The Bedouin arrived in Madinah and met Hassan Radiyallahu Anhu who
gave him one hundred she-camels. Then he went to see Hussain Radiyallahu
Anhu who remarked, “By giving you the camels, Abu Muhammad sufficed
us.”(That is, I would have given you the camels if he had not already
done so.) So he gave him one hundred goats. Then the Bedouin made his
way to Abdullah Ibn Jafar Radiyallahu Anhu, who said, “My brothers gave
you camels and goats. So I give you one thousand dirhams.” Then the
Bedouin went to the Ansari man who said, “I have no camels, goats or
dirhams like my other companions but please bring the camels to me so I
can load them with fruits.”
100 she-camels, 100 goats, 1,000
dirhams, 100 camels with loaded fruits on each- this was the reward the
Bedouin received for his generous hospitality, a reward that continued
to benefit him and his family for several generations.
Allahu’akbar.
_____
Subhan’Allah look at how Allah Azza Wa Jall rewards those people who
do good to others, and those who help others for His Sake. We should all
realize that when the Bedouin man sheltered his guests, he wasn’t aware
that they were the grandsons (Hassan and Hussain) of the Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam, nor was the a nephew (Abdullah Ibn Jafar)
of Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA, yet look how he entertained them and treated
them in that three days.
Alhamdulillah.
This story truly reminds us of the ayah:
“Whoever
does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We
will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them
their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used
to do.” Qur’an 16:97
And how beautiful was the life this bedouin man was given that lasted for several generations in his family. Subhan’Allah.
Remember
to not delay your help for His Sake, so that when the time comes that
you will be needing His Help, be assured that it wouldn’t be delayed as
well, just like how when the Bedouin needed help, and he came to
Madinah, and help was given and pour to him even just by seeing him, he
didn’t even had to speak and ask, he was given immediately.
Alhamdulillah.
_____
And we pray that Allah Azza Wa Jall
enlightens our hearts to always give and help for His Sake, only
yearning for His Pleasure and the reward for the Hereafter.
Aameen
